Devonport City Council is calling for local volunteers to join in its “Clean Up Australia Day” efforts at the East Devonport Foreshore on Sunday, 1 March 2015.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2015, Clean Up Australia Day is a simple way the community can take action to clean up, fix up or conserve our prized environment.

Devonport Mayor Steve Martin said it was important to get involved with such an important national event.
“Just removing one piece of rubbish can make a difference and help ensure that our local beaches, parks, waterways and bushland stay clean for the future.”

“Everyone is welcome – individuals, friends, families, community and work groups and anyone else in between! We are hoping to get as many volunteers down on the day as possible” he said.
“We hope people will come away feeling a sense of satisfaction that they have assisted in cleaning up our environment.”

Volunteers can register now at www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au or by phoning Council’s Biodiversity Officer, Phil Murray on 0438 002 620 or [email protected].

The event will run from 9.30am to 12noon, with volunteers to meet at the corner of Tarleton & Melrose Streets. A BBQ lunch and refreshments will be provided for volunteers who help out on the day.
